Auto Blog reviewed the all-new 2011 Ford Explorer. They test drove the Explorer up in Deaborn, MI at Ford’s Proving Grounds Racetrack and at their nearby off-roading course.
With Ford about to start production on their designed Explorer, expectations are high. With a badge like Explorer whose recognition is among the ranks of Mustang and F-150 many are waiting to see if Ford can rekindle the magic which helped revive the Taurus brand.

The all-new 2011 Ford Explorer is a far cry from its predecessors. Rather than use truckish body-on-frame construction, the latest Explorer features a unibody structure and a platform shared with the Taurus sedan. These changes are significant and will help it compete with more refined crossover vehicles. While ditching the traditional truck frame may disappoint some buyers, most probably will not miss it. In fact, Ford reports that Explorer pre-orders have nearly doubled original projections
These pictures were taken at a Drive One event in Dearborn, MI. They had a 2011 Explorer available for attendees (around 80-90 people) to get their picture taken with the redesigned Explorer. What you don’t see is off screen everyone in the room, most in suits were watching us with disgusted looks. We chalk it up to others not knowing how to have fun.
The photographer thought it was the greatest thing he’d ever saw.
