2011 Explorer Orders Exceed Forecasts

The all-new 2011 Ford Explorer is a far cry from its predecessors. Rather than use truckish body-on-frame construction, the latest Explorer features a unibody structure and a platform shared with the Taurus sedan.

These changes are significant and will help it compete with more refined crossover vehicles. While ditching the traditional truck frame may disappoint some buyers, most probably will not miss it. In fact, Ford reports that Explorer pre-orders have nearly doubled original projections
